Design Brief 1:
Create a set of interactive coloring sheets for young children living in conflict areas with immediate deployment. Content must be created in Articulate Storyline and exported out as scorm.ย
Tools: Storyline, Canva, PowerPoint, DALL.E3
My Role: Instructional Designer, eLearning Developer
Time: 32 hours
Client: UNICEF
Use logic-based variables to teach numeracy one to ten that includes review, practice and evaluation.
By researching eLearning Heroes, I reverse-engineered four coloring designs of varying complexity to explore the use of logic-based variables. Then I built five coloring sheets using shapes from PowerPoint and Storyline. These designs incorporate Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) principles through calming colors, soothing sounds, interactive engagement, and unexpected creative elements to enhance user well-being and personal expression.ย
Due to necessity, the turnaround time on this project was short, making it essential to design adaptable activities. Once the foundational structure was built, it became much easier to integrate new elements, allowing the focus to shift toward addressing the psychological and emotional needs of the audience.ย
Design Brief 2
Create simple numeracy lessons in Arabic for young children living in conflict areas. For example, counting items, or place items in drag and drop. Create a final activity to consolidate learning.
Use logic-based variables to teach numeracy one to ten with review, practice, and evaluation.ย
Create a Galatia-Style Game as a final activity for engagement.ย
Pros
The activities function effectively.
They are engaging and visually appealing and are designed with an intentional color palette to foster warmth
and a positive learning experience.
Provides a simple and interactive distraction for children living in conflict zones.
Developed using Articulate Storyline and exported in SCORM format, ensuring compatibility across multiple devices.
Cons
Due to time constraints and the need to reverse-engineer certain elements, the final product is not completely refined.
Some areas could be further optimized for a smoother user experience.
The workflow challenges include occasional issues with variables and triggers requiring adjustments and testing.ย
Naming states properly was also vital to the process, as some limitations with shape options led to importing assets, which was slightly time-consuming if not named effectively for each state.ย
